Sophie's cousin Stevie Wright made it to the top 36 on American Idol. So even though I've had the honor of shaking Dan Quayle's hand she's arguably the most famous person I know. Stevie is a die-hard Jonas Brothers fan and when she found out Sophie had an extra ticket to last week's show at Izod Arena she jumped at the chance to fly out here to see them.
She came for the week and while we were at the beach Tammy and Sophie
took a day to show her around New York. Our friend Russ invited them to lunch
at his club. And in a perfect moment that he couldn't have scripted if he had
tried, Kevin Jonas was there having lunch with his girlfriend.
Kevin graciously posed for a picture with Stevie and Sophie and said he hoped they'll enjoy the show. Enjoy the show? — Stevie was on Cloud 9 for the entire week! (And yes, for the record, they had an absolute blast at the concert.)
Stevie toured around NYC and then spent 2 days with us on LBI at the beach.
Sure she's 17 and a big star but she still had fun playing in the sand with
Sophie.
We went to "Pasta and Sinatra" night at Nardi's and Stevie sang New York,
New York while dancing with the can-can girls. Then we finished up our
vacation with a lobster dinner at the Lobster Claw in Surf City.
UPDATE 19 Jul 2009 16:31:
Don't forget to check out the main Rule 5 Sunday thread for lots of good stuff.
Stevie's mom sent me this video of her performing live so you guys can hear her sing too.
UPDATE 26 Jul 2009 11:30:
Yes! The coveted top billing slot in Smitty's Rule 5 Sunday link-up thread! Thanks!!!
FYI, Stevie Wright is not related to Steven Wright. She's named after Stevie Nicks (not Stevie Wonder like Randy Jackson thought).
