Technorati is indexing me again! They had to make a code change to fix the problem with my blog getting stuck in their queue. Kudos to Eric M. and the guys at GetSatisfaction.com where they have "community powered support for Technorati".
Well, they're "sorta, kinda" indexing me anyway. It's on a 24 hour tape delay or something. So I never get picked up by Memeorandum because they pull from Technorati and Technorati has stuff I posted yesterday listed as my latest blog entry. And that's old news to Memeorandum.
Wankers.

Recent headlines from my Posterous Blog:
In the eyes of the public school administrators in Taunton, MA this drawing
of Jesus on the Cross is an incitement to violence. The 8 year old student
who drew it was
suspended and required to undergo a psychological evaluation before being
allowed back in the classroom. (h/t Memeorandum)
A Taunton father is outraged after his 8-year-old son was sent home from school and required to undergo a psychological evaluation after drawing a stick-figure picture of Jesus Christ on the cross.
The father said he got a call earlier this month from Maxham Elementary School informing him that his son, a second-grade student, had created a violent drawing. The image in question depicted a crucified Jesus with Xs covering his eyes to signify that he had died on the cross. The boy wrote his name above the cross.
The student drew the picture shortly after taking a family trip to see the Christmas display at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, a Christian retreat site in Attleboro. He made the drawing in class after his teacher asked the children to sketch something that reminded them of Christmas, the father said.
Superintendent Julie Hackett said district policy prevents her from discussing a "confidential matter regarding a student."
"Generally speaking, we have safety protocols in place," Hackett said. "If a situation warrants it, we ask for outside safety evaluations if we have particular concerns about a child's safety. We followed all the protocols in our system."
"We followed all the protocols in our system." Of course they did. The educators charged with turning our children into good little socialist automatons are of course automatons themselves. It's outside their job description to exercise common sense. I'd bet their union contract forbids any attempt at original thought.
The kid was completely traumatized by the incident, and his parents have requested that he be transferred to another elementary school. May I suggest Saint Mary's; they just might understand the significance of linking Jesus to Christmas.
But, if he stays in the public schools, the next time he's asked to create a sketch, he should draw a picture of one boy sticking his hand up another boy's ass. That'll get him a medal from the Mass. DOE and a letter of commendation from Obama's "Safe Schools" czar.
And people still wonder why I'll never send my daughter to public school!
UPDATE 16 Dec 2009 17:23:
In the interest of fairness, I should note that there appears to be more to this story than what was originally reported.
The Taunton, MA Superintendant of Schools disputes the allegation that the student was removed from the school for religious reasons.
Taunton Massachusetts School Superintendent Julie Hackett responded sharply Wednesday to an accusation that a 2nd grader at Maxham Elementary was pulled out of school and ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation for drawing this picture depicting Jesus on a cross.
Julie Hackett "The focus has been on a picture, it shouldn't be on a picture. There is much more to any case than meets the eye."
As the boy's father told his story to NECN and multiple media outlets Tuesday, Hackett says she was investigating. She issued a statement that evening, long after initial stories had already aired. Hackett now says the picture shown is not the same one questioned by teachers.
Julie Hackett "At the end of the investigation I was very confident in what the staff had concluded and supported the actions they had taken."
The Superintendent said she invited the parents to meet with her in her office Wednesday morning but neither parents showed up for that meeting.
Chester Johnson, the boy's father, says he was advised not to go to that meeting.
They could be circling the wagons. Or, there could be some showboating going on. Since all the facts have not yet come out, perhaps we should reserve judgement.
