NJEA leader: Fatter pensions are my "greatest achievement"
Joyce Powell steps down later this month as the head of our state's teachers union. The Star-Ledger did the obligatory puff piece on her for today's paper.
Powell: Protecting payments into the pension system, obtaining health benefits for retirees.
Fatter pensions. Her "greatest achievement" as head of a group of 200,000 teachers has nothing to do with education and everything to do with feathering their nests.
Joyce Powell and the NJEA epitomize the legacy of the late Albert Shanker.
"When school children start paying union dues, that's when I'll start representing the interests of school children."
Ms. Powell has been "promoted" to a post at the National Education Association;
the umbrella group for the state teachers unions. Our nation's school children
are in the very best of hands.

Technorati and Me
Technorati is indexing me again! They had to make a code change to fix the problem with my blog getting stuck in their queue. Kudos to Eric M. and the guys at GetSatisfaction.com where they have "community powered support for Technorati".
Well, they're "sorta, kinda" indexing me anyway. It's on a 24 hour tape delay or something. So I never get picked up by Memeorandum because they pull from Technorati and Technorati has stuff I posted yesterday listed as my latest blog entry. And that's old news to Memeorandum.
