One lone nut shows up at a Barney Frank townhall meeting and suddenly the lefties see "so many on the right" comparing Obama to Hitler? PunditMom pours on the crocodile tears:
Hitler was already dead when I was born, but my family and millions of others lost loved ones in the Holocaust and still suffer the scars from Nazi Germany. Maybe that is why the appearance of political signs and slogans comparing our President to Hitler sends a particular chill up my spine.
Apparently PunditMom has kept "Mr. PunditMom" locked in a closet for the past eight years. How else could he have never seen one single Bush - Hitler comparison? Google reports 6,990,000 hits on "Bush Hitler". Plenty of pictures too. And political signs galore.
None of them elicited so much as a mild draft up Mr. PunditMom's spine, which was undoubtedly stiffened the moment a Democrat was elected to the White House. I asked PunditMom about her husband's amnesia and she disingenuously responded thusly:
I don't seem to recall any town hall meetings held by Bush or his representatives where people showed up and in uncontrollable shouting sprees compared Bush's policies to that of the Nazis. When those who don't understand what the Nazis were about try to draw comparisons that are inapt, that's when we start down a very dangerous and slippery slope.
Ah, yes. "Comparisons that are inapt." Meaning, of course, that comparing Bush to Hitler was so very, very, very apt. Especially in the elite salons where PunditMom meets up with her ultra-liberal lady friends to sip chardonnay, rub elbows with second string Obama lackeys, and scoff at us right-wing neanderthals.
I guess this is where I have to make the obligatory "no, I don't condone Obama = Hitler comparisons" disclaimer. Anyhow, it wasn't "many on the right" who ignited this particular firestorm; it was one lone looney-toons LaRouche cultist (the kind of person who is 100% insane by definition, even if she is taking all of her meds).
We didn't condone it when The Huffington Post (where PunditMom is a contributing author) and zillions of other lefty sites were doing it to George Bush. And we certainly aren't going to start condoning it now, although I could posit "sauce for the goose" and all that.
So go ahead PunditMom. Stake out the moral high ground. Just try to
remember where it is the next time there's a Republican in the White House.
