According to some new research, mosquitoes have a keen sense of smell, attuned to foot odor.
And where there's funky feet, there's a way to send mosquitoes into olfactory overload.
"It is not the amount of odors produced, but which particular odors and ratio between them that makes a difference. Finding these odors and their respective ratio's brings us one step closer to manipulating the mosquito's behavior."
Entomologist Daniel Kline did an experiment with dirty socks. Really dirty socks, that he'd worn for 3 days in a row.
Mosquitoes were drawn to those socks like white on rice.
So don't throw out your old gym shoes. Park 'em in the corner at your next outdoor party and watch the mosquitoes leave everyone alone!
