He's standing up on the floor of the U.S. Senate, right now!, vowing to "talk until he can't stand anymore."
"I rise in opposition to Obamacare," the Texas Republican began. This speech may go on for a while.
I wish I could stand there with him. I want him to know that I'm with him in spirit.
As it happens, at our annual block party this past weekend someone asked me why republicans like Ted Cruz are "wasting their time" trying to defund Obamacare. I said, because it's the right thing to do, it makes a statement that needs to be heard. He was unconvinced. "Pick your battles," he said. It's a trainwreck, I replied.
Yesterday Thomas Sowell asked essentially the same question, and Smitty raised the battle cry.
The reasons for making every possible effort to defund ObamaCare, as I see it, are:
