Dear Leader is really, really sorry that you misunderstood him.
Obama told NBC News, "I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me. We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find in a tough position as a consequence of this."
Which would be pretty cool, if just last week he hadn't told us we were being cancelled for our own good. As in, the policies we had were, to quote him now, "junk."
Let me guess. Today's new spin is, one man's junk is another man's treasure.
Well, to coin a phrase, don't touch my junk.
As for why he's changing his tune, well, the website is eating his lunch. And since it's all about Him, if the website makes him look bad, it can't be his fault.
The over / under on Sebelius being the Scapegoat To Be Named Later is currently running at even money. But George Bush is still 5 to 1.
Look, here's the dirty truth.
Truth #1: Obama had to say something. Vulnerable Senate Democrats spent 3 hours yesterday whining to him about their diminished re-election prospects. And Obama whined right back about how his signature legislative achievement is being hijacked by racists. Because how else could the unicorns not have delivered the perfect web site on time and under budget?
Lost in both their posturing is this — the only person who gives a shit about average Americans getting hosed by Obamacare is Ted Cruz. Senate Dems only care about keeping their jobs; Obama only cares about not tarnishing his legacy. But Ted Cruz stood up for you and me. And for his trouble he was practically run out of town on a rail. Patrick Henry can relate.
Truth #2: The current trickle of health insurance cancellations is only the tip of the iceberg. The tsunami is coming in 2015 when Obama's illegal one year postponement of the employer mandate expires. Because as it stands, at least 51%, and more likely 69% of all employer-sponsored health plans will be deemed "deficient" (aka "junk") under Obamacare.
And we all know what that means. If you like your employer-sponsored plan, you can't keep your employer-sponsored plan. But guess what? You'll be eligible for a shiny new Obamacare plan, just as soon as you can log in to the federal Exchange, where you'll discover it costs 3x what you were paying for ½ the actual benefit.
I suppose your president will eventually apologize for that too.
But no, he won't respect you in the morning.
