Gas prices are too low, so Obama puts 12 million acres of ANWR in reserve, Saudis cheer
Nothing upsets a climate change alarmist more than cheap fossil fuel. Since gasoline prices are approaching an all-time low, Barack Obama needs to find a way to make oil more expensive asap.
Enter a quid pro quo with his Muslim buddies in Saudi Arabia. They're not exactly fans of cheap oil either dontcha know. So, what better way to nudge those oil futures higher than doubling down on killing the Keystone XL pipeline, and then putting another 12 million acres of Alaska off-limits to drilling?
The Obama administration will propose setting aside more than 12 million acres in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as wilderness, the White House announced Sunday, halting any chance of oil exploration for now in the refuge's much-fought-over coastal plain and sparking a fierce battle with Republicans, including the new chair of the Senate Energy Committee.
The announcement, according to individuals briefed on the plan, is just the first in a series of decisions the Interior Department will make in the coming week that will affect the state's oil and gas production. The department will also put part of the Arctic Ocean off limits to drilling as part of a five-year leasing plan it will issue this week and is considering whether to impose additional limits on oil and gas production in parts of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.
Add in his EPA's anti-fracking edicts, and you have a full-blown war on domestic oil production, which quite coincidentally will cause global oil prices to rise.
Qui bono?
Mideast Islamic theocracies, and Vladmir Putin, that's who. America's enemies, of course.
Guess where Dear Leader is suddenly interested in going, with all possible haste? Saudi Arabia! Where it just so happens they're sucking wind due to low oil prices. Imagine if he were to whisper in new King Salman's ear, Muslim-to-Muslim, I've got your back?
Go ahead. Tell me it's too far-fetched a notion. And I'll say, this is the guy who gave machine guns to Mexican drug lords, ostensibly to push "gun control" here in America. Nothing is beyond the pale when it comes to pushing his far-left anti-American ideology.
Remember, he's identified the "greatest threat" to our existence. It's not Islamic terrorism. It's not the unsecured border. It's not the $18 trillion dollar federal deficit. It's not a resurgent Russia, or a nuclear Iran. And it's not the 1/3 of Americans on federal welfare programs.
It's the Climate Change Chimera that moves him to act. Even though Global Warming is on hold. And there's the Snow Storm Of The Century bearing down on Chez WyBlog as we speak. Too bad I can't hop a private jet to Davos and pontificate about sacrificing for Mother Gaia. Sorry, but I gotta get my shovels ready.
Remember when
Obama promised us $8 per gallon gas? Go ahead, tell me he isn't hell bent
on doing everything he can to make that happen.
