Poland falls victim to the Obama-Medvedev Pact

It's hardly coincidental that President Obama chose September 17^th to announce he's selling out our Polish and Czech allies on missile defense. Seventy years ago today Russia invaded Poland at the onset of World War II in accordance with the then-secret protocols of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact. The beleaguered Poles fell within days having already been pounded by the Nazi blitzkreig launched on September 1^st. It would be 50 years before Poland and Eastern Europe were finally liberated from the oppression of Soviet dominance.

Vladmir Putin fashions himself as the man destined to reunite the old Soviet client states into a new Russian sphere of influence. When the Bush Administration proposed installing a protective missile defense system to counter the threat from Iranian long-range strategic forces the Russians objected strenuously. Bowing to that pressure, and burnishing his internationalist bonafides, Barack Obama has acceded to their demands.

That's some mighty interesting doublespeak there Barry. How exactly do you "strengthen America's defenses against ballistic-missile attack" by eliminating the inteceptor system designed to shoot them down? Are you planning to blind their guidance systems with reams of Sternly Worded Letters endorsed by the UN?

Russia on Thursday welcomed the news but said it saw no reason to offer concessions in return.

They got what they wanted and gave up nothing. Yup, that's what I'd call smart diplomacy!

Our Polish and Czech allies are not impressed.

That's a kind way of saying "Obama sold us out". Comrade Obama has made it clear who his new friends are, and they don't include the people of Eastern Europe who yearn for freedom and liberty.
