What did I hear during Obama's "I Have A Plan" speech? Well besides "blah, blah, blah" that is. I heard a man who can't make up his mind.
Business tax credits for hiring the long-term unemployed.
Followed immediately by a call for higher taxes on businesses.
Half a trillion dollars in new stimulus to get Americans working again.
And another year of free money from Uncle Barry to keep folks on Funemployment.
He paraded in like it was a State of the Union Re-election
extravaganza. No faux Greek columns though, maybe they were laid off during
the last downsizing.
All the scheduling urgency which led up to the speech kind of fell flat when he said his proposals wouldn't take effect until next year, and besides the real details for this shiny new plan won't actually be ready until Monday. He's playing politics, and decrying Republicans' lack of statesmanship?
BTW, I tried to "tweet" the speech. But Twitter.com kept telling me "Oops, try your tweet again in a few minutes." Well OK then. Thanks for nothing guys. Not that Facebook was any better, but at least they wear their libtard loving lunacy on their sleeve so conservatives expect the second class citizen foolishness over there.
Anyway, here's a recap of my notes.
Right off the bat he tried to feel our pain. "People are hurting," he cried. But not the Obamas, they just flew in from Martha's Vineyard, on His and Hers jets no less, which is just about as far from the typical staycation as you can get. He can't even fake sincerity.
I love how Barry immediately got all high and mighty about Warren Buffett's tax bill again. The thing is though, Warren is fighting the IRS right now to avoid paying the taxes he admits he already owes. So his plea of "tax me more" seems just a tad hypocritical. Write a check Warren, and STFU.
Speaking of taxes, you gotta give Barry chutzpah points for saying folks need to pay their fair share while Turbo-Tax-Timmy Geithner was sitting in the front row. Maybe he wasn't talking to us, maybe he was telling the tax cheats in his inner circle to pay up or else! Nah…
I love too the tired old notion that Barry can spend half a trillion dollars on Son of Porkulus while "paying for it" with deficit reduction. Its the same lie he told about ObamaCare. And we all know how much it reduced the deficit! Nobody with a brain could believe him this time.
He didn't even try to hide the "re-elect me" aspect of the charade either. Some people are focused on the next election? You mean people like yourself there Champ? But now we can't wait 14 more months? Puh-lease. If time is of the essence what has Mr. I-Have-A-Plan been doing for the past 2½ years? Jobs don't grow on the trees lining the fairways at Congressional.
Let's see, what else whacked my funny bone? Oh yeah, we couldn't survive as a nation without Social Security! And our children will all die of mercury poisoning if even one federal regulation is repealed. Because an over-arching federal regulatory and entitlement bureaucracy is precisely what Thomas Jefferson had in mind while he penned the Declaration of Independence. Throw in everybody gets a federally refinanced mortgage and you're well on your way to co-authoring Poor Richard's Almanac.
How far we have fallen. What ever happened to Live Free or Die?
UPDATE 09 Sep 2011 10:15:
Hugh slept through the speech. I'm jealous.
