Barack Hussein Obama: "Ich bin ein Muslim!"

The United States of America is a Muslim country. President Barack Hussein Obama hath decreed it so.

In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Obama noted that the United States also could be considered as "one of the largest Muslim countries in the world."

That's news to me, especially in light of all the grief we right-wingers took during the presidential campaign whenever we tried to use his middle name. It was verboten lest it be used to frighten voters.

What a difference an election makes! As he prepares for his visit to Egypt President Obama has rediscovered his Muslim roots.

During a conference call in preparation for President Obama's trip to Cairo, Egypt, where he will address the Muslim world, deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Denis McDonough said "the President himself experienced Islam on three continents before he was able to -- or before he's been able to visit, really, the heart of the Islamic world -- you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father -- obviously Muslim Americans (are) a key part of Illinois and Chicago."

Lawhawk says it's enough to make his head hurt. Mine too.

I can see it now, there's a bumper sticker on Air Force One — "Mecca or bust". And dollars to donuts the first line of his Cairo speech is "Ich bin ein Muslim", or however you say that in Arabic.

In the immortal words of Han Solo, "I've got a bad feeling about this".
