Come on, admit it. As soon as you saw that post title you thought, "Oh great, Wysocki is gonna go apeshit because she's (maybe) a lesbian."
Nope. I don't give a rats ass what she does or doesn't do in the privacy of her own home, or whether it's with men, women, or sheep. Unless of course she gets it into her head to tell me that I have to do it too. I don't see that as likely though so I'll leave the ruminations on her sexual preferences to the loons at HuffPo.
Let's talk about ethics, shall we? I hope you'll agree that ethics are an important qualification for a Justice of the Supreme Court. Back in 2004 when Ms. Kagan was Dean of Harvard Law School she swept a plagarism scandal imvolving two of her hotshot professors under the rug.
Her chicanery was so blatant that even a leftist academic said she should be fired for her "whitewash."
Kagan's essential absolution of both professors has been virtually unnoticed . . .
But the way she handled professors Larry Tribe and Charles Ogletree, when they both were caught swiping the words of others, seems to violate basic principles of fairness.
She let the professors off easy for the kind of offense that for which any Harvard undergraduate or law school would have been suspended if not expelled.
Like a good Progressive Elena Kagan decided what end result she wanted and then contorted the rules to justify her decision. An activist law school Dean is highly likely to be an activist Supreme Court Justice. We need people who will interpret the law fairly, not someone determined to reshape the law to meet her radical worldview.
And speaking of following the law, let's talk about the Solomon Amendment. Elena Kagan completely disregarded the clear meaning of the law when she refused to grant military recruiters at Harvard Law School the same rights as corporate and legal recruiters. Smitty doesn't mince words:
Military recruiters are not recruiting for just any old outfit. They're recruiting for the people who support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC.
She seems to hate the existence of the very warriors who will physically defend the Constitution, in the same way a Supreme Court Justice purportedly defends the document in the theoretical realm. She loves the Federalist Society, but they are not her people. Warriors? Does she even consider them fully human?
It's a screaming insult and a slap in the face of anyone who's ever served the country to elevate Elena Kagan, to reward the woman, for her conduct at Hahvuhd. Irrespective of whether a court of law would find the action criminal, this blog is willing to shout that the court of public opinion finds the action a (professionally) shootin' offense. Elena should shoot off her mouth somewhere else than the bench of the Supreme Court.
Yeah, I don't see how she can square that circle either. Swearing to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States when you're on record denigrating the brave men and women who actually put their lives in harms way for that ideal is hypocritical and potentially subversive. Elena Kagan would be completely unable to render an impartial judgement regarding any issue to which the U.S. Military was a party.
For that alone Kagan ought to be disqualified. But wait, there's more! Reach back into her academic days and you can discover just how nutty her political views really are. Left Coast Rebel explored her undergraduate days at Princeton University. And judging by her writings from that time Elena Kagan is the female equivalent of Gus Hall. Kagan's Senior Thesis was entitled, "To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900—1933."
Here's a taste:
"Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism's glories than of socialism's greatness," she wrote in her thesis. "Conformity overrides dissent; the desire to conserve has overwhelmed the urge to alter. Such a state of affairs cries out for explanation."
She called the story of the socialist movement's demise "a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism's decline, still wish to change America ... In unity lies their only hope."
So I ask you, given her blatant anti-capitalist sympathies, would an IBM or British Petroleum receive a fair shake from a Madam Justice Kagan? If she wants to fundamentally alter the foundations of American society the way to do that is to run for Congress. Putting Elena Kagan on the Supreme Court is like naming Jane Fonda as Secretary of Defense.
Mitch McConnell
"hasn't ruled out" fillibustering Kagan's nomination. Of course he made
the same noises about Madam Justice Wise Latina and then he wimped out. Grow
some balls dude. Elena Kagan is the antithesis of everything our Founding
Fathers stood for. Elevating her to the Supreme Court might very well be the
death knell for our nation.
