WyBlog, the best thing about New Jersey since the invention of the 24 hour diner.

Technorati is indexing me again! They had to make a code change to fix the problem with my blog getting stuck in their queue. Kudos to Eric M. and the guys at GetSatisfaction.com where they have "community powered support for Technorati".
Well, they're "sorta, kinda" indexing me anyway. It's on a 24 hour tape delay or something. So I never get picked up by Memeorandum because they pull from Technorati and Technorati has stuff I posted yesterday listed as my latest blog entry. And that's old news to Memeorandum.
Wankers.

Recent headlines from my Posterous Blog:
Consumers can camparison shop for all sorts of things. But if a bill working its way through the state legislature is signed by Governor Christie car insurance won't be one of them. Car insurance in New Jersey is very expensive; car insurance in New York or Pennsylvania is a lot cheaper.
So, naturally the government is here to protect New Jersey's high rates, by making it illegal to buy car insurance out of state.
The Assembly recently passed a measure that makes so-called "reverse rate evasion" a form of insurance fraud under state law.
Under the practice, vehicle owners register and insure their vehicles in other states to get cheaper premiums, even though the Garden State is their principal residence or the insured vehicle is mostly kept in New Jersey.
Notice how "comparison shopping" became "reverse rate evasion"? If I buy milk from a PA supermarket have I also committed fraud ("reverse dairy evasion")?
What's truly amazing is that they don't even pretend that there's a difference; it's about protecting in-state insurance companies from competition:
This results in the state losing substantial revenues, causes higher premiums for those who properly register their vehicles and reduces insurers and stockholder profits.
I'm touched that they care so much about stockholder profits, aren't you?
You'll note too that this is the exact same insurance model enshrined in Obamacare. Health insurance cannot be sold across state lines either. The in-state guys can't compete on price so the government rigs the system so they don't have to!
We can't possibly have a choice, unless of course you're talking about women and "choice" choice, because the government knows what's best for us.
Has anyone seen my Freedom? I think I left it around here somewhere...
