Why is it that celebrities (and wannabe celebrities) feel the need to opine on matters which they know absolutely nothing about? Don't they realize that they'll inevitably find themselves embarassing their employers, and themselves?
Apparently not.
To Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, Mel Gibson, Bruce Springsteen, and countless others we can now add Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall.
Maybe it's a concussion. Maybe he just doesn't read the papers. Maybe he wants to hang out with Rosie O'Donnell and Joy Behar. Who knows why, but yesterday on Twitter Mendenhall sympathized with Osama bin Laden.
"What kind of person celebrates death? It's amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side..."
Dude. Pick up a newspaper. If you never heard bin Laden speak, it's because you haven't been paying attention.
But, nooooo. Mendenhall had to double down on his stupidity.
"We'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style."
We now have our first nominee for the NFL's newest accolade — The Rosie O'Donnell Excellence In Engineering Education Avoidance Award. I realize that for a future pro football player college isn't exactly rigorous. But c'mon, he had to attend at least one class, right?
I'm sure that producers from The View are already scrambling to land him for an interview.
UPDATE 04 May 2011 11:53:
Fishersville Mike is going with the concussion theory. He's got video proof.
