I always thought "not guilty" meant your troubles were over.
But the race-baiters have a new trick up their sleeves, civil rights charges.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has called on the Obama administration to pursue civil rights charges against George Zimmerman.
BREAKING: Zimmerman acquitted on all charges. We will update you as we work to pursue civil rights charges against Zimmerman through the DOJ.
— NAACP (@NAACP) July 14, 2013
The NAACP also tweeted out a petition urging the Justice Department to "open a civil rights case against George Zimmerman."
"Attorney General Eric Holder," the petition reads, "The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida's prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began. Today, with the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it is time for the Department of Justice to act."
"The most fundamental of civil rights — the right to life — was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin," the NAACP wrote. "We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation."
Nonwithstanding that the jury found Zimmerman innocent the NAACP insists on twisting the facts to suit their prefered outcome. There was a time when they were on the side of the angels, fighting injustice and corrupt prosecutions. Now they aid and abet the very travesties they once fought against.
And dollars to donuts Eric Holder will do their bidding.
How can he not, when he's already inserted himself into the frenzy, using the DOJ to gin up pre-trial racist animosity against George Zimmerman.
Judicial Watch revealed documents today that proved what Breitbart News reported in April, 2012: that Eric Holder's Department of Justice took an active role in racially charged rallies in Sanford, Florida and that the Community Relations Service helped force the temporary resignation of Sheriff Bill Lee. That resignation made it appear that Sanford authorities were suspect and possibly complicit in covering up something. . . .
So George Zimmerman will go to trial again. They'll hound him until they get the verdict they want. Even if that means a third trial, for "wrongful death."
The purpose of filing a civil lawsuit in this case will not be about money. It is unlikely that a successful civil verdict against Zimmerman would result in the Martine family collecting any money, despite any amount a jury would award as compensation for their loss.
Yeah, the "purpose" of filing a wrongful death lawsuit is to financially destroy George Zimmerman. He's already on the hook for hundreds of thousands in legal fees for his criminal defense. Two more trials will ensure a lifetime of penury.
If the vigilantes don't get to him first.
But I suppose Eric Holder and the state of Florida won't be too interested in investigating that sort of thing.
UPDATE 14 Jul 2013 13:58:
Email from a reader in Canada:
Now that Zimmerman has been aqcuited will he sue NBC, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the New Black Panther racist Party in civil court for trying to deprive him of his rights to a fair and just trial?
Please don't laugh too hard. If you spit your coffee out it's your fault.
