Our neighborhood had a Block Party this weekend. I'm still a little hazy…
Yeah, it was a good time. Great turnout, and the kids had a blast riding their bikes and playing in the street. Sophie stayed out until midnight hanging with her friends. She wouldn't tell me what they were talking about, which probably means they were talking about boys. Sigh.
Usually when I man the grill folks come by and want to talk politics. But this year all the Obamabots kept to themselves which was kind of a blessing. Instead the nuttiness took a decidely righward turn when the Paulestinians started coming out of the woodwork. Somehow Ron Paul has made an impact in my neighborhood. Not only that, on Sunday I saw three cars around town with "Ron Paul 2012" bumper stickers. I've never seen a Ron Paul bumper sticker before.
It's like mass hysteria or something.
Meanwhile, my neighbor's mom, who lives in Vermont and thinks Bernie Sanders isn't radical enough, friended me on Facebook because she found my blog to be "interesting." And the neighbor in question, who won't touch the lever for a Republican candidate because her hand might fall off, mentioned in passing that she likes the cut of that Huntsman fellow's jib, and also Mitt Romney isn't "all bad." Maybe the End Times are nigh.
On the plus side, the Jets are now 2 and 0.
UPDATE 20 Sep 2011 09:15:
Lance asks, "Dude, what were you putting in that barbeque?"
Burgers and dogs? Oh, and hot wings. Maybe it was the hot wings? Nah, they were pretty darn good. We did switch up on the beer selection though. Usually it's Yuengling (my favorite!) and Coors Light. This year we kept the Yuengling but swapped in Miller Lite. You know, less filling. No skin off my nose but when you mess with tradition the universe goes off its axis...
