Sorry ladies, you'll have to keep your boobies under wraps at the beach. The Asbury Park city council rejected a proposal to create a topless beach at the north end of town. According to the city attorney, "exposure of the female breast, i.e, partial nudity, is sufficient to satisfy the definition of public nudity, or indecent exposure."

Have I mentioned that Asbury Park is predominently homosexual? Gay guys in tight pants are the norm, on or off the beach. But boobies are "indecent"? Not in my book. See for yourself.

On the not so hot front, American Idol is idling into oblivion. Ratings for the past season were the worst ever (and so was the crop of potential new pop stars). Now we learn that their victory-lap concert tour has hit the skids too. None of the shows are sold out, and concert promoter Live Nation just cancelled stops in 8 cities including Toronto and Cleveland, while rescheduling most of the rest.

Cleveland rocks, without Crystal Bowersox.

The Old Grey Lady ain't what she used to be either. The Audit Bureau of Circulation stats are in; first place in the newspaper division now solidly belongs to The Wall Street Journal. OK, so maybe Pinch Sulzberger's Pravda is #2, right? Nope.

In the number two slot is ... the Detroit Free Press.

Detroit (yes, that Detroit) is kicking Pinch's ass.

Pravda The New York Times, at least until Barry nationalizes the media and forces us to read it, has to settle for the bronze.

Hey, anybody wanna bet that Pinch hires Octavia Nasr before the end of the week?
