WyBlog, the best thing about New Jersey since the invention of the 24 hour diner.

Technorati is indexing me again! They had to make a code change to fix the problem with my blog getting stuck in their queue. Kudos to Eric M. and the guys at GetSatisfaction.com where they have "community powered support for Technorati".
Well, they're "sorta, kinda" indexing me anyway. It's on a 24 hour tape delay or something. So I never get picked up by Memeorandum because they pull from Technorati and Technorati has stuff I posted yesterday listed as my latest blog entry. And that's old news to Memeorandum.
Wankers.

You know what sucks about being back at work after spending 2 weeks on the beach?
Socks.
I haven't worn socks for 2 whole weeks. They're like handcuffs for your feet, tying you to your desk, locking you back into the world of meetings, memos, and misery.
It was a glorious two weeks though; warm sunny days, cool ocean breezes, sand castles and sea shell hunting, even one day where we played mini-golf in the rain. If you've never been to Surf City, NJ, you're missing out on an awesome vacation spot.
And unlike TrogloPundit, I did my own guest-blogging. Which I was able to do via the miracle of WiFi. According to Prof. Reynolds it's the 21st century equivalent of indoor plumbing. He ain't kidding either; Sophie was peeved that there was no WiFi for her iPod on the 2 hour car ride from home to LBI. When we got to the rental house I had to log her on before we unpacked the car.
All that technology can be a blessing of course, Or a curse. It's certainly the latter in Riverhead, New York. There on the north shore of Long Island the government is using Google Earth to spy on their residents. Or more accurately, to locate "illegal" backyard swimming pools, ones which were built without first obtaining the proper permits.
So far 250 residents have been assessed fines totalling $75,000. The building inspector claims it's a "safety" issue, without the required permits he has no way of knowing whether or not the pools are up to code. But once the fines are paid his "safety" concerns seem to magically go away.
From the technology is good file, Wildwood, NJ is implementing "pay by phone" parking meters. No more running back from the beach and scrounging for quarters, now you just call the number on the meter when you park, and call back when you leave. At a buck an hour it's a no-brainer. Hey girls, do you want Hannah Montana to play your next birthday party? Sure Miley Cyrus has hung up her blond wig but have no fear, Jennifer Walls is the Next Best Thing. For $3,000 (and up, plus travel expenses) her Hannah Montana Tribute Band has the look and the character down to the smallest of details.
She's got the limo out front....
