But first, the serious stuff.
Are you participating in Ten Buck Fridays? This week's worthy recipient is New Jersey's own Anna Little running for Congress in NJ-6 against Frank "Tax and spend" Pallone. Click on over and drop a sawbuck in her coffers. I did. The look on Pallone's face when he loses in November will be worth every penny.
Starting yesterday the price of a summer tan just went up 10%. Obamacare's first new tax went into effect on July 1st, a 10% tax on indoor tanning salons. But wait!, I hear you cry. President Obama said he wouldn't raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 per year. Not one dime! That's right, grasshopper, your president would never lie to you!. All is not lost however, you just need to show the tanning salon one of these and everything will be as it should be.
California's "social safety net" in action. Welfare recipients in the Golden State are given an ATM card from which they can withdraw their monthly allowance. And withdraw they do, to the tune of almost $5 million at various Indian casinos and poker rooms each year. And now it's reported that more than $12,000 was withdrawn at strip clubs. Well you know what they say, man cannot live on bread alone.
Via Fred Thompson:
Researchers say they have found a 10,000-year-old hunting weapon near Yellowstone National Park.
And laying next to it was a 10,000 year old Democrat trying to ban it.
The cult of the iPhone keeps getting weirder and weirder. First Apple said you were holding it wrong, so here's a few yoga moves that will probably improve your signal strength. When that didn't work they moved on to Plan B — redo the signal strength display algorithm. See in the iWorld, it's not the low number of bars that's the problem, it's the artifically high number of bars shown when you're not holding the phone which is to blame.
Once they release a new iPhone OS in a few weeks they'll recalibrate the signal
strength meter, and presumably your expectations too. Can you hear me now?
