Today and tomorrow Atlantic City, NJ plays host to the annual NJEA teachers' convention. What I wouldn't give to have the Maalox concession! The agita must be palpable down there, judging from just how many search engine hits I'm getting on my NJEA and Chris Christie posts. Just for grins I looked up a few of the IPs reading them. Elizabeth Board of Education, Edison Board of Education, Trenton Board of Education, Paramus Board of Education, etc, etc. Gee, do you think the teachers are nervous about Christie's plans?
For your reading pleasure, here's what they've been reading:
The NJEA teachers union, selfishness on steroids
Chris Christie to NJEA: Drop Dead
So today I dedicate this edition of the Full Metal Jacket Reach Around to the junketeers at the NJEA. While they're holding a union meeting on the taxpayer's dime, our public school children are home watching TV instead of sitting in a classroom where they belong. I wish I got paid for boondoggles like that!
Let's see what my blog buddies have been up to since election night. All in all it was a great night to be a conservative blogger! Not so great if you're Robert Gibbs.
Fishersville Mike sees Doug Hoffman as the Jimmy Doolittle of the tea party movement. Doolittle's raid early on in WW II showed Japan we were coming to kick their butts. Democrats take note!
Unfortunately, Newt Gingrich still has a ways to go on this score. Maggie's Notebook has video of Sean Hannity failing to pin Newt down on support for Marco Rubio in Florida.
Pat Austin says Hoffman got the NRSC's attention. Finally! John Cornyn told ABC News that he got the message "loud and clear" - don't endorse candidates before the primary. Welcome to the party John!
And this report from Robert Stacy McCain says Doug Hoffman is already gearing up for next year. Rock on Dougie!
A number of bloggers are soliciting on behalf of wounded veterans for Project Valour-IT. Carol at No Sheeples Here! eloquently describes why each of us should dig deep for this extremely worthy cause. Also, don't miss this reprise of a wonderful Erma Bombeck essay on military wives from TigerHawk.
When it comes to unions the SEIU is the 800 lb gorilla in the room. Bob Belvedere uncovers an Andy Stern quote that'll curl your hair. That's 22 White House visits in 9 months, head of the SEIU, Andy Stern for those of you who aren't attending the NJEA convention.
Carol's Closet has some incredibly disturbing lyrics from 11 more elementary school song tributes to The Dear Leader. The indoctrination continues unabated, Fausta has video. How many NJEA members will come home from Atlantic City with mimeographed copies of these appalling songs?
The Classic Liberal believes smoking crack is the most logical explanation for the effluvium produced by Frank Rich. It's the New York Times dude, everybody over there is like that. They can't all be on crack, can they?
Then again, the Times is still trying to spin the NY-23 result as bad for the GOP; Donald Douglas sets them straight. Put down the crack pipes fellas.
When it comes to news reporting Grandpa John knows that a picture is not always worth a thousand words. There are times when one word will suffice, and today that word is "shrinkage".
Another great picture that needs no words comes from Gator Doug.
TrogloPundit read some fine print in the Stimulus and found a sentence you probably thought you'd never read. I won't spoil the surprise, click through to be gobsmacked by Your Tax Dollars At Work.
Speaking of hard working tax dollars, Pundette has the amusing tale of how Kentucky shoe store owner Buddy Moore saved nine jobs with just $889.60 in federal stimulus money. Monique Stuart reports from the creative accounting department that Barry will claim your job was "saved" if you got a raise. Or, if that doesn't thrill you, how about drop a fishtank on yourself, collect Stimulus funds?
Here's a great video entitled Why Guns are Good brought to us by The Chicago News Bench. Chicago's gun laws are almost as draconian as New Jersey's and about as effective in stopping crime too.
Oh, I almost forgot. There was a baseball game last night, some people got more than a little excited.
OK that's a wrap. Did you read all the way down here without clicking any of the links? You're doing it wrong!. Go back and click the links!
Thanks for your patronage.
