The Technorati folks rolled out their new & improved website this week. Somebody, somewhere must have thought it was a good idea. Whoever you are, please step forward.
And then please tell us how to get the old Technorati back. You know, the one with "ping my blog" and the ever useful list of blogs that linked to me. Both essential features seem to have gone poof! amidst the site upgrade and are putting a crimp in my buddy Smitty's style.
He shall overcome. (We can only hope!) But why tickle the dragon's tail?
One improvement I do like is their revised authority calculation algorithm. Under the old algorithm my Technorati Authority number was a piddling 35. Their new calculations put WyBlog at 438! That's Four Hundred and Thirty Eight! Yesssss! (Wait a sec, who came up with that number? Max Baucus and the Congressional Budget Office? -- Ed.)
Meanwhile Stacy McCain's at 734 (I'm catching up!) but TrogloPundit is a measly 1? One? (Uh, oh. When Badger-boy finds out he is gonna be pissed.) Maybe their algorithm needs some tweaking.
Overall though, the redesign took away far more than it seems to have added.
Something tells me that the "new, improved" Technorati is destined to become
the "New Coke" of the blogosphere.
