The loser sets himself up as arbiter of his successor. Surely this is a winning game plan, right?
Gov. Chris Christie may be seeking re-election in New Jersey, but a June date on his social calendar suggests he has one eye on the 2016 presidential contest.
At the personal invitation of Mitt Romney, Christie will be a featured speaker at a conference of donors and "thought leaders" the former presidential candidate is hosting in Park City, Utah.
The gathering, dubbed "Experts and Enthusiasts," will bring together bigwigs from the worlds of politics, philanthropy and policy, according to Romney adviser Beth Myers. It will be held June 6-7.
"Mitt views Governor Christie as an incredibly effective governor, one of the future leaders of the party and as a person the conference attendees would want to hear," Myers said in an e-mail message. "Many of the attendees know Governor Christie well because he was an early and solid Romney supporter."
Emphasis on was. Christie was an early and solid Romney supporter until he developed that now-famous man-crush on Dear Leader. He's an opportunist, and if you don't like his principles, don't worry, he's got others. Is he an effective governor for New Jersey? Yes. Is he the guy we want in the White House on January 20, 2017? Hell no. When it comes to a vision for America Christie is closer to Mike Bloomberg than he is to Ronald Reagan.
And really now, I am sick and tired of losers picking losers! Bob Dole begat John McCain, by way of the Bushies. And McCain beat Mitt Romney in Round 1 (with more than a little "help" from Karl Rove), only to go down in flames. Then Romney bought himself the nomination in Round 2 and look how well that worked out.
So yeah, by that kind of logic, Chris Christie is exactly who the GOP needs in 2016. If we want to lose to The Hilldabeast, that is.
Give it up Mitt. Go make a Viagra commercial and take the RINOs with you.
The only thing that'll save the Republican Party, and America, is if we
can put a Real Conservative in the White House. Chris Christie isn't on
the list.
