Because the last two "electable" moderates did so well. Here comes Chris Christie to lead the 2016 primary pack.
Governor Christie's lead among potential GOP presidential candidates has grown, a new national poll released today found.
Twenty-four percent of voters surveyed in a CNN/ORC Poll said they would support Christie for the Republican nomination for president in 2016, that's up from 17 percent in a September survey.
Behind Christie is Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul with 13 percent, Wisconsin Sen. Paul Ryan with 11 percent, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with 10 percent, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio with 9 percent, Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 7 percent, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum each with 6 percent. Another 6 percent said they planned to vote for someone not listed, 2 percent said they don't support anyone and 6 percent said they had no opinion.
Yawn. It's far too early to get excited about these polls, except to note that
the media would love for Christie to get the nod. Wny? Because the same polls
inevitably also show the Hilldabeast trouncing Christie in a head-to-head
matchup. And we all know how much the media would love to see her in the
White House, with Lizzie "Faucahontas" Warren as Veep. So count on them to
push the Christie juggernaut for all it's worth, right up until he clinches
the nomination, then they'll turn on him like the rabidly partisan attack
dogs we all know they are.
