Stupidity and bad taste "humor" is not confined to lefties like David Letterman. A South Carolina GOP activist and former chairman of the Richland County GOP likened the First Lady to an escaped gorilla on his Facebook page. (h/t Memeorandum)
Commenting on a report posted to Facebook about a gorilla escape at a zoo in Columbia, S.C., Friday, longtime GOP activist Rusty DePass wrote, "I'm sure it's just one of Michelle's ancestors - probably harmless."
Then the moron compounded his blunder by trying to claim Michelle Obama made a recent remark about humans descending from apes. No one can find a citation for such a statement. Even if she did say it, so what? His comment was still patently offensive and morally reprehensible.
Eric Davis, the current chairman of the Richland County Republicans, said his predecessor should get a pass. "Everyone says stupid things they regret later. I think the world should move on," he said.
No Mr. Davis. You and Rusty DePass need to move on. I call upon RNC
Chairman Michael Steele to show you both the door. Bigotry and tasteless
jokes have no place in polite society and/or the Republican Party.
