RINO candidata Dede Scozzafava has dropped her bid to win the NY congressional seat vacated when Rep. John McHugh because President Obama's Secretary of the Army. The National GOP poured millions of dollars into Scozzafava's campaign even though she is more liberal than Obama. Republican stars like Newt Gingrich endorsed Scozzafava saying that the need to support Republican candidates overshadows any idealogical differences we might have.
Balderdash. Or as the Hillary supporters famously intoned, Party Unity My Ass.
Scozzafava's electoral troubles began when Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman attracted the attention of the blogosphere. Robert Stacy McCain led the charge. He's been all over New York's 23rd district covering Hoffman and getting his message out. Conservative bloggers across the country picked up on his reporting and the coup de grace to Scazzofava was delivered when Sarah Palin and Fred Thompson endorsed Hoffman.
Bravo Stacy, Bravo!
Democrat Bill Owens was picking up steam, he's now neck and neck with Hoffman whilst Scozzafava is a distant and fading third in the latest poll. With her out of the race this traditionally Republican district will surely rally around Doug Hoffman now. VP Joe Biden is scheduled to make one last campaign appearance for Owens but Hoffmania! has taken hold in upstate New York. On Tuesday the NY-23 voters will whack Barack Obama a second time. (The White House has all but conceded that Republican Bob McDonnell will trounce Democrat Creigh Deeds in the Virginia gubernatorial contest.)
All that's left is for Chris Christie to beat Jon Corzine here in New Jersey
and it'll be a trifecta of anti-Obama sentiment. Three times he's gone to
bat for his guy (Deeds, Owens, and Corzine). There's two outs and it's the
bottom of the ninth. Obama is all in on Corzine now. Something tells me it
won't be enough.
