Well we're into week number four now of President Obama's pledge to "deliver new ideas every week to create jobs" Super Duper Hopey Changey Path To Prosperity Extravaganza and Bus Tour. And today the latest unemployment numbers are hot off the presses.
The unemployment rate is unchanged at 9.1%. No new jobs were added last month. None.
A whole month of pounding the pavement, and nothing to show for it? That's change you can believe in!
Yeah, I know. Barry's gonna give some big speech next week, and then the magic unicorns will start spewing jobs faster than you can say "it's all George W. Bush's fault." That is if we're not distracted by the start of the NFL regular season. Wanna bet he'll try to blame the dismal outlook on people who'd rather sit home watching football instead of going out to look for a job?
He's already downgrading our expectations:
The Obama administration downgraded its forecast for economic growth Thursday, predicting turmoil in the economy will likely keep unemployment above 9 percent through next year's election.
Yeah, turmoil. Mostly in his poll numbers which are at an all-time low. Only eleven percent of America believes Obama has the economy on the right track. Hey, doesn't about 11% of the population work for the government…...
Let's just hope his new-and-improved plan doesn't include any more of that "green jobs" nonsense. He dumped $535 million bucks into solar power poster child Solyndra and they went tits up last week, shit-canning 2000 workers in the process.
Oops.
Well, there's always the Labor Secretary Hilda Solis solution — Buy Canadian! Or the sage advice emanating out of Eric Holder's (in)Justice Department, call it the avoid-trouble-with-fish-and-wildlife-stormtroopers-by-shipping-your-jobs-overseas rule.
That's what I like about the Obama Administration. Message consistency!
Or maybe Barry just lives in a bubble. His whole presidency is "do as I say, not as I do."
Obama to Congress: Get to work!
Obama to staff: Book me a hotel room in Bali, STAT!
See? Consistency.
Turning to the regulatory front, the FDA issued new guidelines for television advertising targeted at children. It is now against the law to show an ad for Cheerios™ on American Idol. The saccharine pap they pass off as music is sugery enough I suppose.
Finally for today, a joke I saw on Facebook:
Q: How do you starve an Obama supporter?
A: Hide his foodstamps under his work boots!
I'll be back next Friday with another round of the Weekly Obama Jobs Report. Yes, I'll watch El Jefe's teleprompter chastise Congress so you don't have to. Actually, I'll TiVo it, and catch up after the Packers - Saints game. There's no sense in missing the first game of the season for what's essentially just another summer rerun.
