Technorati is indexing me again! They had to make a code change to fix the problem with my blog getting stuck in their queue. Kudos to Eric M. and the guys at GetSatisfaction.com where they have "community powered support for Technorati".
Well, they're "sorta, kinda" indexing me anyway. It's on a 24 hour tape delay or something. So I never get picked up by Memeorandum because they pull from Technorati and Technorati has stuff I posted yesterday listed as my latest blog entry. And that's old news to Memeorandum.
Wankers.

The social engineers in our federal government have taken the fetishizing of racial classifications to a whole new level with the 2010 Census. Not content to identify actual genetic differences, now everybody gets to self-identify their own "race". Hispanic from Cuba is now somehow different than folks from Mexico or Puerto Rico or any other South American nation. "Argentinian" is now a "race", distinct from Columbian, Dominican, or Salvadoran.
Every flavor of Asian "race" gets equal billing too. Vietnamese is different from Chinese or Korean (what, North Korean isn't distinct from South Korean?). Hmong (isn't that the same as Vietnamese?), Laotian, Thai, and Pakistani are Official Racial Classifications.
Pakistani? It's a political / religious moniker which didn't even exist until 1934. And now it's a full-blown "race"?
It's all so absurd. How can the Constitutional mandate to "enumerate" the residents of the several states be used to justify segregating us into a plethora of finely-grained racial identities?
If you believe the liberals who tout this nonsense as necessary it's because the government needs racial data to enforce the Voting Rights Act.
Really? I thought the only qualifications necessary for voting were U.S. citizenship and being at least 18 years old. The Census doesn't ask if you're a U.S. citizen, so how can the racial data be used to enforce the Voting Rights Act?
Oh you silly boy! Citizenship is besides the point when gerrymandering Congressional districts!. Heh. Citizenship is meaningless to the La Raza crowd. They want illegal aliens to vote. If the Census shows the percentage of a given race in a district doesn't match the ratios seen in voter registration data then that's de facto evidence of raaaaacism!
You'd think if they really wanted to enforce the Voting Rights Act they'd ask if you're a citizen or not. But then the illegal aliens would all crawl back under their rocks and the people who make a living off of the racial spoils system would lose out on those almighty federal dollars.
Mark Krikorian has a plan to throw a monkey wrench into the whole racial grievance-mongering racket. Question 9, the one which asks about race, after listing the umpteen different privileged "races" du jour, leaves a spot for "other" where you can write in your own race.
Mark suggests checking that box and writing in "American".
We should answer Question 9 by checking the last option - "Some other race" - and writing in "American." It's a truthful answer but at the same time is a way for ordinary citizens to express their rejection of unconstitutional racial classification schemes.
I promise you won't get in trouble. If "Pakistani" is a race then by golly so is "American". And if the Census can recognize all those other races then where is "Jamaican" or "Italian" or "Siberian"?
My race is "American". I'm guessing yours is too. When you fill out your
Census form check "Some other race" and write in "American". You might just
catch the attention of the racial beancounters and in doing so restore some
meaning to E Pluribus Unum.
